Ahead of its launch, we have captured the new Honda Amaze completely undisguised. The compact sedan’s third-generation avatar will enter the market on December 4.
The Amaze has been the workhorse for Honda Cars India for quite some time now. Keeping this in mind, the carmaker has really worked hard to ensure that the new Amaze turns out to be a value-for-money package.
The compact sedan segment has only four models — Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire leads the segment with a share of almost 61%.
For any model to make any kind of dent in Dzire’s unabated dominance, it needs to be packaged quite handsomely. In the flesh, the 2024 Amaze looks like that model. Only time will tell if it is able to do that.
Honda has maintained its family design attributes in the new Amaze. The front is quite similar to what we have already seen on the Elevate with a big, bold grille, flanked by LED headlamps, which have integrated DRLs. There are LED fog lamps as well.
At the rear, you see major similarities with the City, particularly the way LED taillamps have been designed. Then there are customary Honda, Amaze and i-VTEC badges. The car now drives on new alloys, which are again similar to what we have seen on other Honda models.
We were expecting the new Honda Amaze to have an electric sunroof. Sadly, it is not there. So, that is one miss.
Honda has completely tweaked the interior of the 2024 Honda Amaze. There is a new multi-tone dashboard, which does look premium. And there is no dearth of features as well.
The centre console of the car comprises of a new touchscreen infotainment system (possibly 8-inch). There is the customary automatic climate control. You also get a wireless charger. Then, there are the regular cup holders.
The 2024 Amaze’s steering wheel is completely new and houses voice, audio, and ADAS controls. Yes, you read it right. The new Amaze has advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The instrument panel is a semi-digital unit.
The new Honda Amaze is the maiden compact sedan in India to get ADAS. By offering ADAS in the Amaze, Honda has made its intentions regarding the massification of premium features quite clear.
The 2024 Honda Amaze uses the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine from the old model. This engine produces 90PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include 5-speed MT and CVT automatic.
We expect the new Honda Amaze price in India to be between Rs 7.25 lakh and Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The outgoing model sits in the price bracket of Rs 7.19 lakh to Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
